Command #94 - Partake of the Symbols of My Body and Blood
Friday Sep 30, 2016
Friday Sep 30, 2016
Probably few other commands of Jesus have been interpreted with such wide latitude as the command to "eat the bread" and "drink the cup" in remembrance of the last supper on the night before his crucifixion.

COA #64 - Don't Be Suspicious
Thursday Sep 29, 2016
Thursday Sep 29, 2016
This is one of those commands [that is] an "implied" command which we infer from the actual words. What Paul says in 1 Timothy 6:4 is, "If anyone teaches otherwise...he knows nothing; he has a morbid craving for...base suspicions."

Command #93 - Ask the Lord of the Harvest to Send Workers
Wednesday Sep 28, 2016
Wednesday Sep 28, 2016
Here we encounter another highly specific command. While said by Jesus only once, it is yet difficult to include in any other grouping or summary of Commands.

COA #63 - Do Not insist On Your Own Way
Tuesday Sep 27, 2016
Tuesday Sep 27, 2016
We all want our own way. We would hardly be human if we didn't. Wanting our own way is in the nature of things. If we would live in the region of love, however, which Paul lays out for us in 1 Corinthians 13, we choose not to insist on it. The word "insist" is this command is the sticking point, the stumbling-block to the flesh.

Command #91 - Rule Your Life By the Will of God
Friday Sep 23, 2016
Friday Sep 23, 2016
A few of the Commands are so all-encompassing that, if they were followed perfectly, none of the other Commands would be necessary. They draw all the Commands up into them.

COA #62 - Be Courteous and Full of Grace Towards All
Thursday Sep 22, 2016
Thursday Sep 22, 2016
What we call common courtesy represents one of the greatest yet overlooked fruits of spiritual maturity. It is not that courtesy alone implies spiritual maturity. Clearly more is involved in maturity than a single virtue. But the reverse is always true: Spiritual maturity will imply courtesy.

Command #90: Don't Insult Or Call Anyone A Fool
Wednesday Sep 21, 2016
Wednesday Sep 21, 2016
In how many ways we each break this command...often, even daily! When it comes to the "commands of personal conviction," this must certainly rank up near to the top of the list.

COA #61 - Conduct Yourself Becomingly
Tuesday Sep 20, 2016
Tuesday Sep 20, 2016
The translation of Romans 13:13 is full of interest. It contains relational significance literally every time we encounter another person, whether friend, family member or stranger, whether the meeting is a chance encounter or a lifelong relationship.

Command #89 - Proclaim the Kingdom of God
Monday Sep 19, 2016
Monday Sep 19, 2016
Most of the commands given by Jesus to his disciples when he sent them out two by two must be viewed as being too specific to be considered universally incumbent upon all his followers throughout all time.
